Do formless emotions emanate some form of energy ?

Image
I was sitting in a library just about to get going on my work when I suddenly noticed a door open and a gush of happy energy in the forms of smiles, laughter, and warmth just swept the entire floor. It was the activity room in the library from where young mothers with their toddlers were making their way. Each mother walking precariously just behind her bundle of joy, who was rolling down towards an exit gate in Brownian motion. Some mothers looked anxious, some were smiling but the aspect that made all of them look so similar was that they were all rapt in their task at hand watching over their young one. The children on the other hand also shared a similarity – they all looked happy and carefree. Just watching these events unfold makes one elated and in some way hopeful, happy & energized. Newton had talked about the energies of the physical world – matter & motion, Maxwell uncovered the energies of the unseen Electrical and Magnetic waves, I think it’s time some scient...

Journey through Key Notes of “Kaun Mera"

Image
Kaun Mera by Papon When one hears the song “Kaun Mera” by Papon for the first time, it seems it will tend to have a sedative effect. But this piece of music has the capability to not only reduce you to a calm state of mind but also a state of heightened emotional awareness. It all begins with an initial flurry of notes. Don’t be misled by this initial gush of musical winds picking up a few leaves, it will smoothly draw to confident & bold stop. Then begins the story of a few Indianised blues chords shuffling and walking with the support of musical anklets and taking you right into the beginning of the song. At this point, the vocals of Papon start spinning the magical world. The vocals and the subtle music in the backdrop are so much intertwined that it would need...

Jury on AI is still out!

Image
The Jury on the subject of treacherous nature of AI is still out. However, if we observe our own evolution - it may help us identify the critical point of inflexion between  AI being productive and it being inimical. To begin with we were innately better evolved than all other species just due to one capability - "thinking". We then gradually developed skills to communicate amongst each other and there on think for the community and that's how we have reached, where we have. Now in the technology landscape, with  IoT - we are giving machines a capability to communicate with us. In near future, with AI we plan to give them self learning and subsequently collaboration capabilities. Drawing parallels between human and machine evolution journeys, I believe, until a significant foreseeable future - AI & Self learning will be very beneficial in terms of enhancing productivity, reliability and reducing costs. Self learning Machines interacting with humans is...

War Tornl!

On a War-torn Path, with every step, the senses shiver,     The only souvenirs are a few broken arrows and an empty quiver. The amber dusk, the eternal still     the encroaching darkness, the torpid spirits to till!

Reprimand & Parade Zuckerberg to what end ?

The Online Content fabric is basically nothing but expression of the ideas, beliefs, passions &  missions of the society. During the last 1000 years or so, the world was made of, rather selectively connected, small eco systems. Each eco system had its own social, moral, ethical fabric which was mostly sacrosanct and rarely questioned. Even in those small self righteous ecosystems, there were many revolts, uprisings and mostly it was hard to define the right side and wrong side of the war. So in these 1000 years we ( as a society) do not have a common or even a synchronized understanding of the "Right Moral & acceptable ethics "of the world. The problem remains unresolved. If one would have asked 20 years back as to, what is the possible solution to this. In most circumstances the answer would have been – “We need to talk to each other within society and between societies.” Teleport yourself to 2018- We have a rather connected world, thanks to communication com...

Trip to virgin lands......Somaliland.......(May 16,2011)

May 16, 2011 at 8:51pm The real journey began after 6 hours after leaving home, when we left terminal 1 of Dubai Airport to reach Terminal 2. It took us 30 minutes to figure out the way to the place where we could exit terminal 1. One of team members supposedly our" lost professor” literally got lost and we requested airport authorities to make announcement which they refused and made faces at us saying  at how could a 40 year Man loose himself on a airport. Any ways we got reunited and exited the Terminal 1. From Airbus 345 to a super huge taxi to 14 ft by 12 ft lift suddenly for the first time in our trip we came across this 20 seater bus worst than the one which is used for metro drops in Delhi. We still went on and driver after getting that minivan full unloaded us at terminal 1.which seemed so familiar as it was exactly like terminal 1 of Delhi airport something like 10 years back. We were supposed to wait for nearly 7-8 hours and waiting lounge was carefully desi...

Why Socialist Government Selected by Democratic process in India is not a good Idea?

Democracy finds its origins in Socratic school of thought which was later documented by Plato in the well-known artifact - The Republic. The Socratic Utopian society was based on partial democracy. Socrates valued the immense power that the veto in a choice of government beholds. However, as per many accounts, he wanted this veto power to lie more in hands of intellectually blessed minds, rather than all commoners. He believed that such important choices should be in hands of well-informed minds or lest the Democracy will fail. Though the way we see Democracy today -in principle, it has now a very strong underpinning of the right to social equality(irrespective of intellect or capability). In fact it can be said to be the extension of the idea of social equality in the dimension of Politics and National administration.  From an ideological spectrum standpoint, democracy can be said to be a more center left. When Idea of Social egalitarianism is stretched to the extreme right, i...

Net Neutrality Policy Needs Much More Nuanced Approach

By Arpit Khosla What is self-evident is that we are living in age of Digital transformation. Our lifestyle from bill payments to entertainment to learning has all gone digital. A confluence of factors ranging from Moor’s law , cloudification , hardware commoditization , plunging hardware costs , Ubiquitous connectivity , widespread content digitalization and a wave of Industrial and Enterprise operations digitalization have hastened the dawn of Digital Transformation. These transformational waves have not only touched most aspects of consumer’s lives, but also stimulated a sea change in the way in which the business valuechain stakeholders engage with each other. The result is that almost everything and anything is now available on Web/Mobile over Cloud. This meant new services and multiple new revenue streams. If one was to earmark the key investments that were instrumental in bringing this digital era to life – one would not hesitate to say it is the Cloud Infrastruc...
